Dr Genesta Nicolson

Clinical Psychologist

Dr Genesta Nicolson completed her Bachelor of Psychology (Hons) at University of Queensland in 2011 and her Doctorate of Clinical Psychology at Griffith University in 2017. She has worked across a number of public and private settings, currently in both public hospital and private practice.

As a clinical psychologist, Dr Genesta has completed a postgraduate doctoral degree and clinical registrar training program, to specialise in treating more severe mental illnesses, making individualised interventions based on clinical assessment and neuropsychological testing.

Dr Genesta has been involved in submissions that resulted in the 2024 recommendations to increase pelvic pain funding and endometriosis services in Queensland that so many benefit from and is involved in ongoing advocacy and government advisory work.

Genesta is fascinated by many areas of practice in psychology and health, including:

  • Complex Trauma

  • Pelvic Pain

  • Gender Identity

  • Existential Issues

  • Neurodiversity

Her patients receive higher patient rebates than general psychologists or counsellors under the Medicate Better Access Scheme.

 
 

Genesta has a strong focus on improving healthcare systems and delivery to provide the best care for patients regardless of background, gender, sexual orientation or ability level. Genesta is passionate about taking a team and whole-person approach to supporting patients to live authentically in an honest, compassionate, fun and playful way.
